Sketch A Day continued...

My my my.... I've gotten lazy. It happened a lot faster than I thought! I hadn't posted in a while because I was trying to get enough sketches together to represent each day and got so stressed about it that I forgot that this is my blog and I can do whatever the heck I want with it. Apparently, that includes breaking my own rules. Oh well. Let's pretend there are enough images.... I'm honestly counting them as I post, I have no idea...  At the end of this blog entry we'll know where we stand, k? (I swear I'm not crazy!)    :/

February 1st 2013
This is a super rough tattoo sketch idea (not for me) that is so not happening! Kinda fun though....

February 2nd 2013
Not my original, I copied this from a tattoo I saw that I thought was beautiful. Like I said before, copying is a great way for me to learn. I think this took me 1.5 hours.

February 3rd 2013 (my Dad's bday!)
I drew this using the technique I learned from the previous pic. There is a watermark on it because , as an artist, you have to be careful with the internet! I am planning on selling the original and prints of this on my Etsy online store (to be announced).

February 4th 2013
Just a martini. And an olive. Took about a half hour.

February 5th 2013
....... So there IS a story here! When I was little, I drew a comic book that centered around these little pencil shaving people. Yep..... Pencil shavings. As people. Kinda like the smurfs. This was my main character.

February 6th 2013
Rough Rosary Sketch - 20 min

February 7th 2013
The first word is Danish for 'strength' or 'strong'. The second is Italian, meaning 'faith'.

February 8th 2013
A ridiculous design I came up with for a guy who wanted a tattoo to represent the midnight sun in the Yukon. He ended up changing his mind last minute and got a prehistoric angry beaver instead. I'm NOT kidding! I'll try to find a picture. Haha!

February 9th 2013
I started out drawing the roses from a gardening book when it was a slow day at the tattoo shop. When I got home, I wanted to expand the drawing and I LOVE steampunk so this is what it turned into. The numbers literally have no meaning what-so-ever. I just placed them as they came out of my pen. :)  This one took quite some time... probably around 4 or 5 hours-ish. I am planning on selling the original and prints of this on my Etsy online store (to be announced).

February 10th 2013
My beautiful, talented step-sister, Trisha, and her Curtis got married on the 16th of Feb! I carried on my tradition of drawing a characature of them as a wedding card. Congrats to them! Drawn by hand and coloured in photoshop. About 3 hours-ish.

February 11th 2013
Tattoo I did. 1 hour.

February 12th 2013
Sorry about the bad quality photo! An actual painting!!! If you know me and my art, I VERY rarely paint. I'm a bit insecure and think I'm crap at it. My awesome friend, Amanda, hosted a Painting With Wine night at her place and this was how mine turned out. (Side note: we drank the wine, we didn't paint with it.) A really fun night and I picked up some great tips. I might get into this 'painting' thing! I'm debating whether or not to sell it...

February 13th 2013
Hoot hooooooot!! :) I like owls. I am planning on selling the original and prints of this on my Etsy online store (to be announced).

February 14th 2013
Valentine's Day! I don't know why, but drawing this octopus made me SO happy! Like, ridiculous happy. I was smiling like an idiot the entire time I was drawing it. It was my first time and I feel like it was some kind of spiritual happiness moment. Maybe this is my spirit animal....haha Shading it in was another story... I am planning on selling prints of this on my Etsy online store (to be announced). I don't remember how long it took me 'cause I worked on it a couple different times.

February 15th 2013
BAM! Diva mermaid girl! About an hour and a half. My pen ran out so I had to use a different, 'bluer' one (upper left corner). :/

So I made it all the way up to the 15th. Not too bad. I'm going to have to keep on top of this craziness. A benefit of posting these sketch a days is that I'm working on something artistic all the time, no breaks.
 Thanks for viewing the blog!

Cheers,

- Lisa
